If you haven’t heard of Maisie Peters . . . oh boy, get excited. Listening to the English singer-songwriter’s music is like spilling tea with your best girl friend – she writes about everything from youth to friendship to love (and heartbreak) in her songs, making her an icon for young girls just trying to navigate life. Her two EPs, Dressed Too Nice for a Jacket and It’s Your Bed Babe, It’s Your Funeral are made up of killer storytelling and catchy beats that you can dance to, or have an existential crisis in your car to. Either works!
She starting posting original songs on Youtube at 15, gracing the internet with her music and her bubbly energy, and her career has taken off since then. Now, at 20 years old, she has toured all over and has developed a considerable fan base that just keeps growing. Here’s everything you need to know about Peters.
Friends is the sitcom that keeps on turning out the lols. As a special Thanksgiving treat, Courteney Cox took to Instagram to share wishes of gratitude, while recreating the iconic moment that Monica danced with a turkey on her head from Friends season 5, episode 8, “The One With All the Thanksgivings.”
In the tongue-in-cheek video shared to Cox’s Instagram, the actor says “Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I’m feeling so thankful and also, if I get one more godd*mn gift with that turkey on my head dancing like a f*cking fool, I’m just going to snap. So, anyway, since I’m the symbol of thanksgiving, here you go, hope it makes you happy . . .” Afterwards, she gets into full Monica mode and the camera pans to Cox wearing a raw turkey wearing sunglasses on her head, while she does a goofy little shimmy dance to the intro of the Friends theme song. It’s our time, Hotties! On Nov. 20, Megan Thee Stallion dropped her debut album, Good News, and unveiled her music video for “Body.” In the two-minute clip, Megan and celebrities such as Taraji P. Henson, Jordyn Woods, and Blac Chyna unite for a stylishly sexy dance break as the Houston rapper celebrates her curves. “The category is body, look at the way it’s sittin'” she says. “That ratio so out of control, that waist, that ass, them titties / If I wasn’t me and I would’ve see myself, I would have bought me a drink.”
During an episode of YouTube Originals’ Released series, Megan spoke about the video’s emphasis on women empowerment. “You’re going to see all body shapes, a lot of strong women doing the damn thing,” she teased before the clip’s premiere. “Just being confident and owning their bodies and their sexuality.” Well, that’s exactly what we got, and we’re rocking with it. Skai Jackson brought magic to the Dancing With the Stars semifinals on Nov. 16 with a moving Viennese waltz. The 18-year-old actress and her partner Alan Bersten glided across the dance floor during their routine set to Noah Cyrus’s “Lonely.” For Jackson, this was an especially poignant song pick since she’s felt isolated in the industry before. The judges absolutely felt her passion and commitment to the choreography – so much so that they gave her three 10s.
Sadly, the perfect score wasn’t enough to save Jackson, who was sent home alongside Johnny Weir. Personally, I think she deserved more, but I’m glad we’ll always have this final (flawless) dance. Watch the full performance above.
For the Dancing With the Stars semifinals on Monday night, Kaitlyn Bristowe danced in honor of her late childhood best friend, Lindsay, who died in a tragic motor vehicle accident when she was just 17 years old. The former Bachelorette star and her partner Artem Chigvintsev moved beautifully to the tune of “Cowboy Take Me Away” by The Chicks, which was Lindsay’s favorite song and even played at her funeral. The emotional performance earned Kaitlyn her second perfect score of the season, after receiving her first trio of 10s for her intoxicating dance to Britney Spears‘s “Toxic” last week.
Ahead of the episode on Nov. 16, Kaitlyn shared on her Instagram that she was dedicating her contemporary performance to her late best friend. “Lindsay LOVED to dance, and dancing was something that helped Bri [Kaitlyn’s best friend] and I grieve when she passed,” she wrote alongside childhood photos of the two. “It’s a beautiful way to honor somebody and I will do that tonight. I’m still so close to her family and I know they will be watching tonight. I am honored to use this stage to remember her and celebrate her legacy.”
She continued, “She was such a unique soul, and she had such an impact on who I am today. She was the most unapologetic free spirit and we miss her every day. I know it’s semi finals and of course I’m asking you to vote to be a part of the finale, but I’m also asking you to hug your friends and cherish the time you have together.” Watch the breathtaking tribute above, and check out Kaitlyn’s post ahead.
