On Thursday night, the Glee cast reunited to celebrate Naya Rivera and her legacy at the virtual GLAAD Media Awards ceremony. In the heartwarming tribute, they honored the 10th anniversary of the moment her character, Santana Lopez, came out to her grandmother on the series. Demi Lovato, who played Lopez’s girlfriend Dani on the show, introduced the special reunion, which featured numerous cast members including Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Harry Shum Jr., and Jenna Ushkowitz.

“Her desire was to always be an advocate to those who did not have a voice.”

The cast each shared beautiful words about Rivera, who tragically died by accidental drowning in California’s Lake Piru back in July 2020. They touched on what an incredible performer and mom she was to her son, Josey, and the lasting impact her role as Lopez has on LGBTQ+ teens today. Morris, who played Brittany Pierce, went on to share how meaningful representation was to Rivera, who had previously hosted the GLAAD Awards twice, once with Cory Monteith. “As an ally, Naya was so honored to represent [young Latina LGBTQ+ women],” she said. Ushkowitz added, “Her best role was being a mom. That was the most fulfilling to see her do that.”

At the end of the segment, Jessalyn Gilsig (Terri Schuester) read a heartfelt message on behalf of Rivera’s mother, Yolanda Previtire. “Her desire was to always be an advocate to those who did not have a voice. I don’t believe she realized how important she was to this world,” the message read.

Prior to the award show, Ushkowitz told Entertainment Weekly “the Santana army” had inspired her to reach out to GLAAD and plan a tribute in honor of Rivera’s influence on the LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities. “It’s bittersweet because we miss her so much, and I feel like there was so much more she would have done if she was still around, but the fact that we’re able to pay tribute and honor the work she did do, and the effect she did have on people’s lives, it gives us something to celebrate as well in her remembrance.” Watch the homage in full ahead.

The Serpent: What Really Happened to Dominique Renelleau?

By | April 3, 2021

Episode three of The Serpent takes a deep dive into the story of a young traveling Frenchman named Dominique Renelleau (Fabien Frankel), who becomes a captive of Charles Sobhraj (Tahar Rahim) in Thailand and narrowly escapes the serial killer’s clutches. Did such a Dominique exist in real life, and if so, did he manage to leave Sobhraj? The answer to both questions is a resounding yes.

In the third episode of the limited series, Sobhraj takes in the traveler and slowly poisons him. Eventually, Renelleau realizes that he’s being poisoned after Coco the monkey dies drinking the “medicine” that Sobhraj and his girlfriend Marie-Andrée Leclerc (Jenna Coleman) give him. When he expresses a desire to leave, Sobhraj retrieves Renelleau’s passport, which now has a picture of Sobhraj’s face on it. Along with other threats, he also reminds Renelleau, who’s now short on money on top of being severely ill, that his visa has expired because he was too sick to renew it. Eventually, with Nadine and Remi’s help, Renelleau escapes by the skin of his teeth and returns to France safely.

In real life, Renelleau had been traveling in Asia when he came across Sobhraj. Sobhraj poisoned and nursed Renelleau back to health, making the young traveler believe that he had been suffering from dysentery. The actual Nadine (Mathilde Warnier) and Remi (Grégoire Isvarine) helped him leave by lending him money to get back home.

Understandably, Renelleau has been very private about his life, but we do know a few things about his whereabouts today. The end credits of The Serpent reveal what happened to the people depicted on the show. We learn that Renelleau still lives in his hometown in France. We also discover that he is married, has grown-up children, and remains an avid traveler despite his terrifying encounter with Sobhraj.

Jennifer Garner Calls Reuniting With Mark Ruffalo “a Really Beautiful Experience”

By | March 13, 2021

Grab your Razzles and break out the wishing dust as Jennifer Garner‘s recent comments about working with Mark Ruffalo has us all up in our 13 Going on 30 feels. During her appearance on Good Morning America March 9, Garner couldn’t help but gush over her The Adam Project costar. “It was wonderful,” she said of getting to work with Ruffalo again. “We were playing a married couple and we just had this instant comfort and obviously there’s just such a connection and a warmth. It was actually a really beautiful experience to revisit that relationship.”

It seems Ruffalo is just as excited about the reunion; he recently shared a pic of the pair on set, captioning the post, “Reconnecting with an old pal. Anyone know where we can get Razzles in Canada?” Garner followed it up with a caption of her own, “Wishing dust worked! And I got a perfect day with my old pal.”

This is the duo’s first film together since playing Jenna and Matt in 2004’s 13 Going on 30. In the upcoming science fiction film, they are set to play Ryan Reynolds‘s parents as he goes back in time to confront Ruffalo.

Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo are back together again, and it’s making us super nostalgic. On Tuesday afternoon, the former 13 Going on 30 costars shared a photo of their sweet reunion on the set of The Adam Project, which is currently filming in Vancouver. “Reconnecting with an old pal,” Ruffalo wrote alongside a selfie of the pair. “Anyone know where we can get Razzles in Canada?”

Garner and Ruffalo are set to play Ryan Reynolds‘ parents in the upcoming science fiction film, but they are well-known for playing Jenna and Matt in the popular rom-com 13 Going on 30. Of course, Garner and Ruffalo’s reunion isn’t the first time we’ve gotten nostalgic about the film. In 2018, Ariana Grande paid tribute to the movie in her “Thank U, Next” music video, and most recently, Christa B. Allen, who played young Jenna, re-created iconic scenes for Halloween. We think it’s time to rewatch the movie again!

John Krasinski and Pete Davidson Kissed as Jim and “Pam” on SNL, and It Definitely Hit Different

By | January 31, 2021

John Krasinski kicked off hosting the Jan. 30 episode of Saturday Night Live with a – well, a kiss. In the actor’s opening monologue, members of the cast sitting in the audience heckled Jim John, asking him why he was in such great shape when The Office‘s Jim Halpert is supposed to be “soft,” and where his wife Pam was. When John responded that his actual wife, fellow actor Emily Blunt, was in the UK, Kenan Thompson asked if Pete Davidson, who was standing next to John, was Pam.

“I think they really need for someone to be Pam,” Pete says. “I think we gotta give them what they want, Jim. Jim, you gotta kiss Pam.”

And, dear reader, to the cheers of “Kiss Pam! Kiss Pam! Kiss Pam!” that’s absolutely what he did. It definitely hit a little different, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Jenna Fischer is at home quivering in Pam Beesly’s sensible heels right this very moment.

See the memorable smooch in the video of John’s monologue above – we won’t judge if you rewatch it more than once.
