Lily James Brings Back Baywatch as Pamela Anderson in New Pam and Tommy Set Photos

By | May 16, 2021

Lily James and Sebastian Stan are set to take on Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s romance for the upcoming Hulu series Pam & Tommy. The project was first announced in December 2020, and filming is already underway. Shortly after the studio dropped the few first-look photos of James and Stan in character, James was spotted in Anderson’s iconic Baywatch swimsuit. Honestly, the resemblance is uncanny!

The series is set to revolve around Anderson and Lee’s whirlwind romance in the ’90s. The project will also be a mini I, Tonya reunion for Stan and Craig Gillespie, as the latter is directing the series. After seeing Stan’s transformation into Jeff Gillooly for I, Tonya, we’re not surprised to see how well he’s channeling the Mötley Crüe drummer on the set. See more set pictures of James and Stan ahead.

The Office Actress Kat Ahn Recalls How the Show’s Racist Jokes Impacted Her Personal Life

By | March 30, 2021

Hollywood’s portrayal of Asian women in media is historically upsetting. Harmful stereotypes, hypersexualization, and fetishization have played into onscreen projects for decades, including on NBC’s The Office. Actress Kat Ahn recently opened up to the Washington Post about how her guest spot on the comedy show’s “Benihana Christmas” episode resulted in her being the butt of racist jokes.

In the 2006 episode, Michael Scott (played by Steve Carrell) calls Benihana “Asian Hooters” and marks the arm of one Asian waitress with Sharpie so he can tell her apart from another. Michael’s behavior across the show’s tenure is knowingly problematic, meant to be a parody of ignorant bosses in workplaces nationwide. However, for Ahn, this storyline still remains hurtful 15 years later. Ahn said she was “just there to be the joke” and felt powerless. “You’re told to shut up and be grateful,” she said. “Actors have no power until they become a star.”

Ahn previously elaborated on this experience through a TikTok video. “The storyline with myself and the other Asian American actress is that we were the ‘uglier’ version of the actresses at the Benihana,” she said. “Also that all Asian people look alike; we’re one big monolith; and we’re just one big, walking stereotype without any personality or individuality, which is problematic.” Ahn’s personal life was also impacted by the show’s racism. Later, a coworker at her office job attempted to mark her arm exactly like the episode. He’d brush off her discomfort with an unfortunately typical reply, saying it was just a joke.

Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, the show’s Pam and Angela, agreed this episode is problematic during their Office Ladies podcast, admitting the Sharpie scene makes them “cringe.” Kinsey said, “I just don’t think this storyline would have been written today.” Fisher agreed, “I don’t think so either.”

John Krasinski and Pete Davidson Kissed as Jim and “Pam” on SNL, and It Definitely Hit Different

By | January 31, 2021

John Krasinski kicked off hosting the Jan. 30 episode of Saturday Night Live with a – well, a kiss. In the actor’s opening monologue, members of the cast sitting in the audience heckled Jim John, asking him why he was in such great shape when The Office‘s Jim Halpert is supposed to be “soft,” and where his wife Pam was. When John responded that his actual wife, fellow actor Emily Blunt, was in the UK, Kenan Thompson asked if Pete Davidson, who was standing next to John, was Pam.

“I think they really need for someone to be Pam,” Pete says. “I think we gotta give them what they want, Jim. Jim, you gotta kiss Pam.”

And, dear reader, to the cheers of “Kiss Pam! Kiss Pam! Kiss Pam!” that’s absolutely what he did. It definitely hit a little different, but we wouldn’t be surprised if Jenna Fischer is at home quivering in Pam Beesly’s sensible heels right this very moment.

See the memorable smooch in the video of John’s monologue above – we won’t judge if you rewatch it more than once.

Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski on Jim and Pam’s First Kiss: “My Stomach Was in Knots”

By | January 13, 2021

Not even 1,000 soft pretzels could compete with the love I have for Jim and Pam’s relationship on The Office. (OK, maybe 1,001.) Over 15 years later, their first kiss is still one of the most loved moments in Office history – and on Jan. 9, Peacock shared a special behind-the-scenes interview with Jenna Fischer and John Krasinski, revealing that the picture-perfect moment was even more romantic than we thought.

“My stomach was in knots . . . They cleared everyone off the set. The cameramen were hidden. We couldn’t see them,” Fischer explained before Krasinski added, “Which is what they do for like big nude scenes, and it was really wild. It was very quiet, the lights were really dim, and you felt like something intense was happening . . . We both were just really nervous.”

“The whole setup was very quiet and intimate, and it really felt like a stolen moment between two characters.”

Following Jim’s famous “I’m in love with you” admission in the parking lot, Pam goes back to the office to call her mom and ask for advice. During the call, only one cameraman was present and hidden behind a door to make the scene feel more intimate. “The first time that I saw John was when he walked in the room to do the scene,” Fischer said. “So, my first glimpse of him was as he walked through the door as Jim and came up and kissed me . . . The whole setup was very quiet and intimate, and it really felt like a stolen moment between two characters, and I think that’s why it worked so well.”

In addition to being alone together in a dimly lit room, part of what made the scene so intense for Krasinski and Fischer was that they were just as invested in their characters’ storylines as fans watching from home. “What people don’t realize is that Jenna and I were as nervous to do that and find out about it,” Krasinski said, commenting on the future of Jim and Pam’s relationship. “We were dying to know how they were going to end it. We didn’t know how it was gonna happen, when it was gonna happen, under what circumstances. It was really, really fun to do.”

As nerve-racking as it was, the scene – which has now been seen by millions of fans – was totally worth it, if you ask us. See the full clip above to hear more from Krasinski and Fischer about what it was like to prep for one of Jim and Pam’s most memorable onscreen moments.

Jim and Pam Play a Matrix-Inspired Prank on Dwight in a Never-Before-Seen Clip From The Office

By | January 4, 2021

The Office has unveiled a never-before-seen cold open to ring in the new year and celebrate the show’s move from Netflix to Peacock. On Jan. 1, the series released the clip, which shows Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) tricking Dwight (Rainn Wilson) into believing that he’s in The Matrix‘s simulated reality of the same name. They send a series of signs and messages that lead Dwight to a warehouse where Hank the security guard (played by the late Hugh Dane) greets him while wearing a leather coat and a pair of sunglasses – ya know, classic Matrix attire.

Hank then tells Dwight the “truth” about The Matrix, though the Dunder Mifflin regional manager isn’t buying it at first. “But the Matrix isn’t real,” Dwight says. “It’s a trilogy of flawless, life-changing films, and an online game.” But after some convincing acting on Hank’s part, Dwight finally chooses between a red pill and a blue pill.

The segment was cut from the show’s ninth and final season, which aired from 2012 to 2013. We can’t believe NBC kept this gem from us for over seven years, but at least we get to enjoy it now. Watch the video above before the system failure hits!
